My Life Story
Marissa Garcia-(also known by her nickname Ferbie) was born on August 19, 1998 at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada to her German-Italian American parents. At some point during her infancy, she and her two sisters and parents relocated from Vegas to Pleasanton up in Northern California where she stayed at until she was a year old and later moved to Modesto in the same county where she stayed at until she was twelve years old. When Marissa reached her toddler years, while her sisters were already speaking and being typical normal kids, Marissa was still not talking and was displaying strange behavior that her family has never seen before, making her parents fear that something must be wrong with their.
At two years old, her parents took her to a pediatric specialist, where they were told that she has Autism-(a severe developmental disability that impairs communication and interaction) and that the state of her condition will be permanent; with no cure for her mental disorder, they were told that Marissa would need mental help, special care, and will go through a lot of struggles for the rest of her life. While being selectively mute for the first couple years of her life-(even to this day), she finally began speaking at the age of four and a half and has continued to gradually improve over the years. She took up her interests in filmmaking and writing/illustrating her own stories at the age of seven, where she received her first camcorder. While not filmmaking until after graduating high school, she spent a lot of her childhood and adolescent years drawing and writing stories. Upon completing high school, she joined a vocational film school called Options For All in San Diego where she discovered her talents for audio and video editing. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020-2021, Marissa began working remotely and went through some personal and psychological struggles during that difficult time, and would occasionally go through writer's block, but is gradually learning to overcome those issues. Besides working in audio and video engineering, Marissa has been wanting to pursue other ambitions in her filmmaking career, such as directing, producing, writing/script writing, creating pitch bibles, and even wants to pursue voice acting into her career with her inspiration stemming from her current job as an audio engineer and her boyfriend/soulmate Eric Apparito, who attended Options for All with Marissa and like her wants to pursue voice acting. |
